Ben Drigg’s kaleidoscopic video for Golden Birthday’s ‘Start Swimming’ is like staring at a puddle of gasoline whilst tripping out of your mind. We’re neither confirming nor denying we’ve ever done this. The track is off the groups upcoming album ‘Blue Island’.

by How To Dress Well
album Total Loss
One of these days Tom Krell’s gonna go Sixth Sense on us, revealing that he is actually dead — explaining away the enigma that is his time-gone-by meets time-to-come sound. In the meantime, Krell, better known as How To Dress Well, has announced the release of a new album. The lead single ‘Ocean Floor For Everything’ is another stunning take on ethereal R&B — exactly what we’d expect from an artist with questionable mortality. Get the track for free via the soundcloud link.

by Golden Birthday
album Blue Island
‘Our Love Is Free’ the new single from Chicago neue-new wavers Golden Birthday is the stuff of Robert Smith in acid washed jeans dreams. Shuffling darker eyelined synth pop with chart topping glimmer, the track finds its way into a kind of mid 80s’ middleground that does the decade and Cure frontman proud. The single is off the groups upcoming album, ‘Blue Island’ due June 26 from Rainbow Body Records. Grab it for free by way of the soundcloud link below. Thanks to NFOP for posting.

by Tommy Toussaint
‘I Don’t Wanna Cry’, the new track from Jesse Thompson aka Tommy Toussaint is like overhearing doo wop and new wave make love - then cry about it. It’s blissfully sad pop, and depending on your mood going in will end in one of two ways: in a Saturday night fever scenario or the shedding of a few man-tears. Stream it above or grab it for free via the soundcloud link below.

by Amorphous
‘Same Hearts’, the new track from Japanese duo Amorphous is as close as a music post can get to ‘ooh and aah’ factor of puppy pics. Pacyifying synths, gentle beats, with vocals so soft and lovely you just wanna get up in there and nuzzle em.

by Stumbleine and Asa
album Your Secret EP
We’ll admit it. We weren’t prepared for the awe-inspiring catharsis that is the collaborative EP from Asa and Stumbleine. So we don’t want to say anything to spoil the experience. But what we can say is this: women will swoon, children will be conceived, and tears will be shed by this album. Ready yourselves. Check out ‘Tinderbox’, our favorite cut from the EP and stream the entire thing below.

Like many out there we grew up on the Beastie Boys. And since MCA’s passing it’s been a struggle to express just how we feel about it all. But this Spike Jonze reinterpretation of Sabotage starring his own kids and a package of pop rocks says it perfectly. RIP MCA.

by Poor Spirits
What can we say. We’re addicted. ‘Seaweed’ marks our second post for Poor Spirits in two weeks. So instead of finding some newfangled way to describe how blissfully good these guys are we’re gonna defer you to the Tony Robbins Power Moves video below. After you’re done grab the track for free via the soundcloud link.
