Mirror Kisses, our favorite new wave worshippers from Harrisonburg VA are back with a new single, ‘Takeover’. It’s one of the more emotive tracks from the duo to date, laying down thick reverb and synth over heartachey crooning. Somewhere Robert Smith is crying. In a good way.

Mirror Kisses, who late last year released the incredible split LP ‘Dance Decree’ with Kid’s Garden are back again with an awesome remix of Tears For Fears ‘Shout’. It’s a twice baked potato of nostalgic electro-pop - layering the 80s’ born track with a double helping of drum machines, reverb, and synths.

Last Friday, 80s’ new wave revivalists Mirror Kisses released split album ‘Dance Decree/Lighthearted’ with member George Clanton and his alter-moniker Kid’s Garden. The record plays like a two sided evening of 80’s nightclubbing. Mirror Kisses open the night with a inescapably danceable A-side, packing the disco lit floor with narcotic synths, hypnotic vocals, and neon lycra. Dancing slows to drifting, bringing on Kid’s Garden to close out the night with a sleazy shoegazing B-side. It’s a perfect 1-2 punch of an album, taking the party from the club to the bedroom in a night you’ll never forget. ‘Kameron’, the awesome track from newcomers duo Mirror Kisses is a resurrection of ’80s new wave music, evoking images of faded denim and fuchsia windbreakers. Or in the case of this music video, an early documentary style cut of ‘Point Break’. Like other artists steeped in ’80s nostalgia, Mirror Kisses emulates this era through shimmering synths and reverbing vocals.
